I’ve been growing/consuming hemp since 2016 when I started to have negative effects while smoking thc. What was always medicine to me suddenly felt like an illicit drug . Consumption started manifesting into extreme paranoia and general unease. My younger brother enlightened me to the existence of hemp, and I was lucky enough to run into a fellow grower who had a recent harvest . The hemp gave me all the positive effects that helped with my medically diagnosed aliment , while excluding all the nasty negative side effects . I was a believer off my first use .
So I started growing multiple high cbd strains in my backyard green house utilizing personally amended organic no till living soil . That paired with the God given sun, had always produced the best cannabis flower for me. Hemp was no different. I rejoiced having finally found real medicine again.
I stoped cultivating after the 2018 farm bill allowed me to have access to a seemingly infinite amount of hemp farms around the US .In the timeframe of 2016 to this day in Dec 2025, I’ve consumed hemp from well over 30 separate farms around the US. The best, cleanest , most medicinally effective of it coming from an Amish farm in PA that has long since been closed . In my brain they were gonna be my forever source , so then began the search for hemp of that caliber. I found a couple farms that got close, but still no cigar.
In July of 2022 I did a spur of the moment move to Michigan from the only place I had ever lived (southern CA). By late 2023, i damn near couldn’t find a reliable source for industrial hemp. Farms started switching to alt noids like thca,thcp,thco etc. Also, for whatever reason, farms would not deliver to recreationally legal cannabis states . So for a good while I had to “microdose” traditional cannabis . I got to a point where I needed to find good quality hemp again . I figured I’d stay local knowing that Michigan is well known for their cultivation. I thought it would be an easy task , oh boy was it quit the opposite .
I had to intentionally seek out Lakeland hemp. I’m not gonna lie, it was a mission to sift through all the “corporate” “big” Michigan hemp companies that litter the front page of google . And to add insult to injury, I found Lakeland hemp right as I fell into financial hardship and had to put off making an order until just last week . I wish I wouldn’t have waited a day from my discovery to make an order.
This of the earth medicine that Lakeland obviously dumps time , sweat , and most importantly love into , IS the best hemp I have personally consumed . I was hoping to maybe just get a glimpse back to the experience I had with the mythical PA hemp I’d been searching to find again, But I ended up having my eyes opened to a new tier of organic medicine .
